Ephraim Xholevena's politically-motivated imprisonment was a cause-célèbre throughout the 1970's. After a military coup in 1983, he became Minister of Internal Affairs under General Mbora Kisango. The "hams" served at General Kisango's dinner parties were later revealed to be the salt-cured flesh of his political enemies.
